Classroom Assistant Intern
Opportunity for students & recent graduates
We are seeking education students or recent graduates who would like to gain practical classroom experience while continuing their studies in the field of education.
This internship is designed for individuals who want to develop hands-on teaching skills, observe experienced educators, and actively support classroom learning in a dynamic mixed-age environment.
Interns work alongside our teaching team and gain exposure to lesson preparation, classroom management, student engagement, and experiential learning practices.
The role is ideal for future educators who believe children learn best when strong academics are combined with movement, wellness, curiosity, and cooperation — honoring the natural energy of childhood and engaging both mind and body to support meaningful learning.
Responsibilities
Classroom Support & Learning Assistance
• Assist the lead teacher during daily classroom instruction in English Language Arts, Math, and Science (Common Core Standards)
• Support students during individual work, small group activities, and hands-on learning experiences.
• Help prepare learning materials, classroom resources, and activity stations.
• Assist with phonics practice, reading support, and math exercises under the teacher’s guidance.
• Encourage student participation, curiosity, and cooperation during lessons and activities.
Learning Environment & Classroom Management
• Support the teacher in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-organized classroom environment.
• Assist with daily routines, transitions, mealtimes, and outdoor learning activities.
• Help guide students during play, group activities, and exploration while promoting respect and collaboration.
• Encourage positive behavior and help students develop independence and self-regulation.
Observation & Professional Development
• Observe teaching methods, lesson structure, and classroom management strategies.
• Support documentation of learning through observations, photographs, and reflections.
• Participate in discussions with teachers about student development and learning approaches.
• Assist with classroom preparation for projects, presentations, and school activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff as part of the school community.

Qualifications
• Currently studying Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
• Interest in gaining practical teaching experience
• Native or fluent English speaker
• Spanish at a conversational level is helpful
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Positive, energetic, and patient with children
Preferred
• Previous experience working with children (camp, tutoring, childcare, or classroom assistant roles)
• Interest in holistic or experiential learning approaches
• Comfort working in an outdoor and movement-based learning environment
