Early Childhood Educator
Children aged 1 to 5 years
We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator to lead one of our Early Childhood classrooms, supporting children during the foundational years of development through a balanced approach that integrates academics, movement, creativity, and social-emotional learning.
This role is ideal for an educator who understands that young children learn best through exploration, play, movement, and meaningful relationships. The Lead Teacher guides children in developing early literacy, numeracy, curiosity, independence, and cooperation within a structured yet nurturing environment.
The Early Childhood Educator will lead a classroom while collaborating closely with assistants and colleagues to create a learning environment that honors the natural energy of childhood and engages both mind and body to support deep and lasting learning.
Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
• Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate learning experiences in early literacy, numeracy, science discovery, and creative expression.
• Introduce early literacy skills including phonological awareness, vocabulary development, storytelling, and early reading readiness.
• Support early mathematical thinking through hands-on activities, games, and exploration.
• Design learning activities that incorporate play, inquiry, sensory experiences, and exploration of the natural environment.
• Use a variety of materials including books, manipulatives, art, music, and outdoor learning resources.
• Differentiate learning to support individual developmental stages and abilities.
Classroom Leadership & Environment
• Lead the daily classroom routine including learning activities, play, rest, meals, and transitions.
• Create a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, structured, and emotionally supportive.
• Establish routines that encourage independence, cooperation, and respect.
• Guide classroom assistants and collaborate to support small group and individualized learning.
• Incorporate movement, play, and wellness practices that support children’s focus and emotional regulation.
• Foster a positive classroom culture that supports empathy, communication, and collaboration.
Assessment, Documentation & Family Communication
• Observe and document children’s development, interests, and learning progress.
• Prepare weekly updates and semester reports describing children’s academic, social, and emotional development.
• Maintain consistent communication with families and provide updates on classroom activities and individual progress.
• Help make learning visible to families through classroom displays, documentation, and shared experiences.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school events and community activities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field
• Valid teaching certification or credential preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with young children in a classroom setting
• Native English Speaker
• Spanish at a conversational level required (bilingual preferred)
• Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
• Experience in an international school environment
• Experience with play-based, inquiry-based, or experiential learning
• Comfort integrating outdoor learning, movement, and nature-based exploration into daily routines
Position Details
• Full-time teaching position
• Salary 1800 – 2000 USD
• Housing stipend of 600 USD per month to support local rental costs
• Reports to the School Director
